More various photos - Meadowbrook Road

More various photos on Meadowbrook Road, formerly known as Johnston Ave... but Johnston Ave was not continued from the Union County side of the Green Brook into the neighborhood here on the Somerset County side as originally planned. 

And so instead the road was renamed to avoid confusion (but why they then created Meadowbrook Drive in addition to Meadowbrook Road is ... well, confusing...)

Brook Ave - Meadowbrook Neighborhood

These Brook Avenue photographs are some of the same images that were printed in the newspaper to promote "recent" (all pre-war) sales of the neighborhood.  Not all of the images that were printed in the newspaper are here, but to receive just some (over 50!!) of these amazing images detailing the early days of neighborhood landscape almost 80 years after the passing of George E. T. Wells, the architect and President of Meadowbrook Inc., and directly from his family, is a gift in of itself.

Also I've mentioned it before, but the trees... wow, they were so young!
Comparing photos to those existing trees in the neighborhood today, you're literally seeing what 85 years of value looks like to beautify a neighborhood. 
Please consider planting one for future generations to enjoy.

Early photographs of the neighborhood

 A very nice surprise arrived this December in the form of early photographs of the Meadowbrook neighborhood.  You may know that as the neighborhood homes were built and sold, the local Courier Newspaper would publish sold announcements.  These are those photographs, along with a small brochure, and some additional street scene photographs which I'm including here.  Remember, click the images to enlarge them.

Notice how young the trees were!  We need to plant more!
